2026 Matinee Series
Our Matinee Series continues to offer high‑quality performances that combine music, storytelling and shared experience — perfect for patrons who may not always be able to attend evening shows, but still want to enjoy outstanding live entertainment.
We begin with Late, Late at Night – The Rick Springfield Story, a heartfelt and engaging tribute that traces the extraordinary journey of one of Australia’s most iconic performers. Through song and storytelling, this show celebrates Rick Springfield’s music, career and enduring appeal, offering both nostalgia and insight in a warm, intimate matinee experience.
Choral music takes centre stage with the Victorian Welsh Choir, whose powerful harmonies and rich tradition promise an uplifting and moving afternoon. This performance celebrates the strength of collective voice, cultural heritage and the timeless beauty of choral singing — a treat for both dedicated music lovers and first‑time listeners.
We’re thrilled to welcome Silvie Paladino as she performs The Songs of Eva Cassidy, a tender and soulful tribute to one of music’s most beloved voices. With grace and emotional depth, Silvie brings Eva Cassidy’s unforgettable repertoire to life, creating a morning of reflection, beauty and stunning vocal artistry.
A very special feature of our 2026 Matinee Program is Steinway on Stage, an intimate twilight concert celebrating Wangaratta’s magnificent Steinway Grand Piano. Presented on the stage of the Alpine MDF Theatre, audiences are seated around the piano, creating a rare and immersive concert experience that brings listeners closer to the music and the performer.
This distinctive performance series is delivered in partnership between the Wangaratta Performing Arts & Convention Centre, the Rural City of Wangaratta, and GANEAA, the Goulburn and North East Arts Alliances newly formed Steinway Interest Group – Friends of the Steinway.
In 2026, audiences will enjoy two exceptional performances — Celeste Cari in February, and Emma Lang with String Quartet in May — each showcasing virtuosic piano performance and exquisite ensemble collaboration, elevated by the presence of this iconic instrument.
Together, these performances form a Matinee Program that is diverse, enriching and deeply enjoyable, offering audiences the chance to connect through music, story and shared moments.
