This will be the final Steinway on Stage under the auspice of Wangaratta Arts Council, we hope you will join us for this special, final performance with Mark Bolsius & Jane Still.
Mark Bolsius studied classical piano but influenced by his Father's jazz record collection, fell hook line and sinker for jazz. He's played solo, duo and many band iterations through to big band since his late teens, and recently an orchestral jazz gig. His influences range through mid century players like Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Monk and more recently, Euro jazz players like Tord Gustavsen and Bobo Stenson. Mark prefers working with other players and particularly vocalists, so for this last Steinway on Stage what better choice than to work with local songstress Jane Still.
Jane Still is a versatile vocalist and clarinetist who has been making music since she could talk. Her early training was in traditional choral and church settings, and after taking up clarinet, she also discovered an abiding love of big band and jazz. In recent years Jane has sung with the Holy Trinity Cathedral choir (alto), led Jazzaratta, Sweet Buzz, and is the vocalist for the hot local jazz ensemble The Daisies. Jane brings her wide vocal and experiential range and a sense of joy to all her performances."
Steinway on Stage is presented in partnership with Wangaratta Arts Council and Wangaratta Performing Arts & Convention Centre. They are an intimate twilight concert featuring Wangaratta’s Steinway Grand Piano. Audiences are gathered around it on the stage of the Alpine MDF Theatre.
