The Wangaratta Symphony Orchestra presents ‘A Sunday Afternoon’, a charming afternoon of orchestral music from composers such as Dvorak, Wagner, Vivaldi, Strauss, Brahms and more.
This is the inaugural concert of the Wangaratta Symphony Orchestra – a community orchestra formed in the midst of the challenges of COVID in 2021, but is thriving and growing with members from all over the North East under the direction of local conductor Aaron Wardle.
The first movement of Dvorak’s 6th Symphony is a feature of the second half - a lesser-known work of Dvorak, but pleasantly pretty. Enjoy the wonder of our woodwinds as they delight the ears in this piece. Strauss’s ‘Firefest’ will also be a fun favourite of the audience and many other well-known pieces will delight your ears, as will the conclusion of the concert with the Radetzky March.
Set in the Memorial Hall at WPACC, all ages will enjoy this delightful afternoon of orchestral music.
